Exciting news (times 2)! My fiance and I are going to see Manchester Orchestra on the 7th. If you have not heard of this band, they are amazing. I first saw them when I was at a Piebald/mewithoutYou concert. They tore up the stage and almost took the show from mewithoutYou (not that that could ever happen). They are passionate and make me want to listen to music constantly. I am so excited to see them again.
Coincidentally, they are playing a show with Fun. who is a new band (CD comes out tomorrow) comprised of old members of The Format and Anathallo. I am equally excited to see Fun. in concert.
Manchester Orchestra just came out with a new album (on the 17th of April) called "Mean Everything to Nothing," and it if phenomenal. It builds on the simplistic and gritty sound that they coined in their first album, "I'm Like a Virgin Losing a Child." The two albums compliment each other quite well. Though this new album (Mean Everything to Nothing) is complex in its chord progressions and styles, the band starting using distortion on their guitars, which deters from their original clarity and beauty. It is only a slight deterrent from this albums overall beauty and poise.
I recommend this band to people who like:
Mae, mewithoutYou, The Snake, the Cross, the Crown, or The Format.
I give this album, "Mean Everything to Nothing," an 8.5 out of 10.
