Suggest Some Bands

I need some good topics to discuss...if you have any bands in mind, feel free to comment on this post and suggest some bands. I can't promise anything, but I need some new music and would love to hear from you to see what you want to hear about.

oh man do i have bands for you to check out.

Check out the band Dosh. he's a super good drummer. he loops his drums live and then plays keyboards and a whole mess of other things. you'd love it.

Hey Adam! Are you only researching bands or are you also looking for solo artists? I know of this guy, Andrew Hoover, who's starting to tour around the New England and Mid West area who you might like. He would describe himself as an R&B/roots singer. If you want, you should check him out at http://www.andrewhoovermusic.com/

ps, I love your idea for this blog!

i found this really good band the other day called "razorlight". their mianstream british, sound kinda like a mix between ben folds and coldplay. good stuff. also, just to name a few others: chester french, marcus foster, lion of ido. they all have myspace so you can check them out on there. enjoy!

Well, I think you should talk about Ben Sollee at some point. Just saying.

Stump, I can always count on you for good stuff. Dosh sounds good, I'll need to check him out more before I can make a real assessment.

Thallemer, Razorlight sounds like a mix between ben folds and coldplay and styx and tears for fears. I'm not sure how I feel yet. The others I haven't gotten to yet (except for Ben Sollee, of course).

I'll keep you all updated.

What I'm into is always changing, but recently I've been listening to a lot of post-rock instrumental bands that are definately worth checking out. You've probably heard of Explosions in the Sky, and with good reason, but if you like them you should really look up "Mogwai" and "The Calm Blue Sea." The latter has only released a 6 song EP but Mogwai has a lot.

Seriously, how can I get my hands on some George Rogers Clark...I need it!

Trouble Over Tokyo - He's a one man band out of England. The Album 1000 is good. "is he alive" and "new hero" are recommended.

Here's a list of some great stuff that I've really been into recently. Some are pretty well known, while others are slightly obscure.

-Iron & Wine
-City and Colour
-Matt Costa
-Dinosaur Jr. (vocals can be slightly grating, but if you can get through it there are some pretty sweet guitar solos.)
-The Appleseed Cast (esp. the album Peregrine)
-Xavier Rudd (listen for the didgeridoo)
-Broken Social Scene (esp. You Forgot it in People)
-RJD2
-Why? (either love it or hate it, but give it a few listens.)
-Youth Group (esp. Skeleton Jar)
